Grateful Manifestation

Soft warm flannel pjs
insulate me from the chills
of paned air as I compose
by my writing window

Flannel cloth woven
by hands that work the loom
cloth cut and stitched
by folks to whom I’m grateful

Cotton planted, grown,
harvested for others’ skills
by farmer hands unknown,
to whom I’m also grateful

To earthworms I give thanks for
tilling soil beneath the surface,
aerating grains of dirt that
nourish cotton seeds

Rains nourish soil
sunlight warms unseen seeds
cascading interactions
manifest in flannel pjs
