Rarely do we quell words that
arise in the midst of pause,
too often we graffiti
such a silence with
meaningless talk,
blurt out words
without clear intentions,
scar potential harmony by
babbling back and forth,
back and forth
But sometimes we
befriend the pause,
allow quiet space to open,
listen for common ground
expressed in silence

Wise perspective. And “graffiti silence with meaningless talk” is soooo descriptive of a soooo pervasive tendency. A phrase I’ll carry and strive to heed!

So good to hear from you, Jazz. I hope you are well. Thank you for your kind words. I tried many verbs for that line and when I used the noun ‘graffiti’ as a verb here, it just seemed perfect to me. Thank you so much for noticing! 🙂
