In the calico garden
where bolts line up in even rows
of pristine potential
she touches the textiles
to feel the cloth speak
then picks indigo blossoms
tilled in a landscape of teal
She’ll cut and pin and stitch together
a new shirt
to get wrinkled and worn and possibly torn
fulfilling its purpose
to be lived in

I’m a terrible seamstress, but I love looking at fabrics. Thank you for writing such a sweet post.

There is something interesting about fabric stores (and hardware stores, too, for me). Maybe it is the abundance. Thanks for stopping by.

This is lovely! I don’t sew or quilt, but enjoy looking around a fabric store occasionally! 😊

I gave up sewing several years ago so I’m not in fabric stores often. I took this photo for an assignment in a photography class. Thanks for stopping by.

That’s the way I am at Barnes & Noble. 😀 OR an office supply store!
