If I had a song
I would sing for the woodpecker
whose home we destroyed yesterday
as he was making a nest of our wood sculpture
I would sing a song of hope
that he could find another home
while the weather is still mild
to winter-in protected from icy storms
If I had a song
I would sing for the poets
especially the ones who struggle with their muse
or have writers block as thick and long
as the great wall of China
I would sing a song of inspiration
of mindfulness to notice and connect
and a song of good pens and fun paper
If I had a song
I would sing for my heart
that oscillates from joy to sorrow
from irritation to peace
I would sing a song of strength
to keep my heart loving and kind
a heart for speaking my truth
and listening to the truths of others

Your song for woodpeckes, poets, and hearts. LuAnne, is #1 on my playlist. 🙂
The wood birds
At home with the trees
Carved and pecked

Your song reached me on all levels, LuAnne–protection for the woodpecker, good pens and fun paper, and my oscillating heart. Deeply appreciated for the serenity you brought me.
