Oh, dear poet, love and care for
your little patch of woods
that touches you with inspiration,
nourishes your earth-soul
Thank you for leaving the leaves untouched
where the smallest of the ones I love
build safe habitats – worms and crickets,
beetles and bees, vole and chipmunk, too
Squirrels whose antics entertain you,
birds who fill your yard with song, and
Momma Raccoon teaching kits to climb,
all are in my care, dear poet
I’ll call my friend Zephyr to make your hair dance,
Mari to nourish the earth from her clouds
I’ll care for your woods with your help, dear poet
Bless me with your verses

The Day Twenty-five prompt was to write a poem that recounts a dream or vision, and in which a woman appears who represents or reflects the area in which you live.

I love the “Thank you for leaving the leaves untouched.” It should be posted at the entry of every park!
