I saw just a tiny glimmer of awe
the rest was on the loose
it’s a mystery where the glimmer was from
but I have clues to this riddle
The middle or even a tiny edge slice
is a clue as to what is the whole
If I look at the puzzle as if it’s a fractal
I can tackle the riddle by seeing the glimmer
as a fraction of swelling symmetry
The glimmer’s a piece of a bigger whole
that is also a piece of another vast whole
and on and on to infinity

The Day Twenty-three prompt is to write a poem that is short and snappy with a lot of rhyme and sound play. It should also have a deceptive simplicity about it, like a proverb or an aphorism.

Oooh la la. Fractals! Had you read anything by the model poet before? I wasn’t sure how to be that much like him. I like your idea of the riddle.

Thanks, Carol. No, I hadn’t read anything by that poet before. But I had fun playing with sounds and just the whole concept. Fractals have fascinated me for decades.
