Beloved

Come to me tonight dear one
Let my eyes rest upon
your glowing countenance

I know you are there
even when you don’t
grace me with your presence
I know you have many other lovers
but my love for you abides

My whole history intertwines with
your ever-changing self
I’m dejected when you hide behind petulant clouds
I laugh with delight when you tease me behind breezy veils
I savor evenings when
you give me all of what you are
whatever that might be

Sometimes you greet me in the morning
and that of course gladdens my heart
but when you come to me, full, at night
ah, how rapturous that is, dear Luna

The Day Ten prompt is to write a love poem.

Compliment this poem with others on Wind Rush, Moondance and Moonscape.

  1. Thank you for this beautiful poem. As a child, I used to build a temple for Luna while playing in the forest.

I watch the full moon and admire its beauty that draws us to stay awake and

look at its face in wonder…

    1. Thank you for your lovely poetic comment, Joanna. While my dad and I played a moon game in the car when I was a child, I really didn’t grow to love watching her go through her cycles until I retired five years ago. Now I am a little obsessive I think. 🙂 Thanks for stopping by.
