I no longer pray
I read poems and
listen to Fleetwood Mac’s “Oh, Well”
I no longer pray
I lie in the hammock
watching the undersides of the leaves
I no longer pray
I write short poems
make abstract-ish paintings, cook soup
I no longer pray
I sit with my old kitty
letting her purrs strengthen my aging bones
I no longer pray
I wipe down the counters
do loads of laundry, water the plants
I no longer pray
I check in with my sister
widowed a year, listen to her stories
On second thought
maybe this is how I pray
oh, well
I can’t sing, I ain’t pretty and my legs are thin
But don’t ask me what I think of you
I might not give the answer that you want me to
Oh, well
Now when I talked to God I knew he’d understand
He said, “Stick by my side and I’ll be your guiding hand
but don’t ask me what I think of you
I might not give the answer that you want me to.”
Oh, well
Written by Peter Green, performed by Fleetwood Mac
Photo taken in my back yard while lying in the hammock.
Now that sounds like a life plan !

Thanks, Kamal. I am glad you liked the music. I feel very blessed to live with a little patch of woods shared with three other neighbors. It’s very inspirational.

Thanks, Sherri. I have read that the vibrations in a kitty’s purr actually help strengthen bones. That’s good news for me since I have two cats and osteoporosis. Thanks for stopping by.

Loved your reference to Mac attack and Fleetwood Cadillac. Never associated either with the group but it works! Thanks for stopping by and sharing your poetic response.
