Windows flung open
bird song bathes the air
when the whirr of the edger’s motor
takes intermittent breaks
Mind cast open
aha notions bathe awareness
when the whirr of a cluttered mind
takes intermittent breaks

The NaPoWriMo prompt for day twenty-nine is to write about windows.

It’s hard, sometimes, to tell what the most inspirational / most distracting, isn’t it?
Sunshine, birdsong, trimmer, busy mind…
Well done!

This poem feels exactly what it is like when you open the window for the first time in the spring…it’s like clearing winter clutter from your mind!

Thanks, Heather. I do love open windows – but with screens for me because of bugs. 🙂

My late husband always used to get annoyed with me. I’d leave the patio door open (no screen). I can still hear him “You’re letting the bugs in”! lol

Love what you’ve done here – those noises that temporarily drown out our peace.

I do love open windows; we have lots of birds in the area. But I have to shut the windows sometimes because of all the power tools.
