The poem,
fascinating and often misunderstood
is capable of sustained flight
on wings totally different than
wings of fiction or drama
Poets use echolocation
to find their inspiration
emitting pulses of high-frequency energy
that bounce off nearby objects
Poets then use these echoes to
create new perspectives

Today’s NaPoWriMo prompt was to find a factual article about an animal, then go through the text and replace the name of the animal with something else. I replaced “bat” with “poem” or “poet”. The original text was Learn about Michigan Species: Bats.

Substituting with poet and poem worked so well!

Thanks, Heather. I tried a couple of other options and this one made me happy.

What a great prompt. I’ll have to remember this one. I’m fond of bats and I am fond of poetry so it all works for me!
