Winter storm blasted past sunset
glittered its mantle of snow in the moonlight
Eight inches dumped to shovel and plow
offered spry aerobics in crisp morning air
Dishes piled up after dishwasher broke
thawed icicle fingers in sink of warm bubbles
Hubby in hospital, visits restricted
but cared for by kind health healers
When an avalanche of woes is dumped upon your life
it’s practice time for seeing blessings in the blizzards
Photos from my personal collection taken in Troy, MI
It’s all about seeing the flakes in the snow. Sometimes a challenge when it comes in a big blast.

Your poem today is so appropriate. I sense that you have had a rough time of it as late. I will say a prayer for your husband that he returns to full health quickly and also that your dishwasher woes get fixed. Hang in there LuAnne!

Thank you, LuAnn. He is struggling with several issues but he’s home now and we have a home care nurse coming today. The dishwasher is still on the blink. I have grown to actually enjoy the benefits of hand washing my dishes. It’s under warranty but we didn’t want a repair man in the house. The nurse will be the first person that’s come inside in a year! But she’s been vaccinated at least.
Thanks so much for dropping by and commenting. I keep remembering that all things will pass, the good and the bad. 🙂 Hope you have a lovely weekend.

This is a good poem to read and reread – practice spying blessings that translate into smiles. May need to squint to find the source of a smile buried under all the grimace-generators. But when I squint, I usually find more than one smile blessing. Some situations would not materialize if not for the inconveniences surrounding. (Outright laughter kept my spirits up for hours after watching my husband try to melt snow in a bucket by blowing it with a hairdryer – due to no water service.) I love your image of 8 inches of snow on the deck table.
Warm wishes to your husband and you.

Thank you, Jazz. You have had some difficult times in TX haven’t you. I am glad you have power but I giggle at your image of your husband trying to ‘make water’. I hope things return to ‘normal’ again in your neck of the woods. Your challenges make mine seem like snow angles.

As of 3:30am there is water in our pipes again (albeit not the ultimate pressure); as of 11:00am I have a new hot water heater scheduled “within the week” because the one we turned off will not turn back on. BUT the storm prevented us moving our Airstream back to its storage lot – sitting ready in our driveway – complete with functional hot water heater – showers tonight!!

LuAnne, your poem is wonderful! “Spry aerobics in crisp morning air” makes the chore of shoveling snow so much more appealing. All the best for your husband’s full recovery and take good care of yourself.

Thanks, Sabine. Clearing the snow has been a ‘chore’ I have come to appreciate. With the gym closed and the trails icy, snow clearing has been a godsend for my exercise and exposure to fresh air. Hubby is getting stronger every day. Thank you.

Sounds like we’re going through similar things, LuAnne. So hard in these times to know how many people we can afford to let in. Hope your husband is recovering.

It is already starting to thaw. Husband is starting to heal. I can rejoice in that but as all things are impermanent, another tempest will come. All I can do is prepare and enjoy the blessings for now. 🙂 Thanks for your comment, Joan. They are a blessing for sure.
