When every day repeats itself in a
whirl of routine you cannot escape
when nothing you do seems to make a difference
approach your days from a different perspective

Don’t play Phil Conners that’s bored and depressed
be the changed Phil with a new take on life
notice the guy you’ve ignored each day
begin to care, become his friend

Catch someone falling, save someone choking
help those in a flat-tire kind of day
learn a new language to speak from your heart
practice new art forms then practice again

Failure may come or even success but
keep doing and loving a bit more each day
if you live a routine year after year
know there’s ways to enjoy Punxsutawney

We have a family tradition to watch the movie, Groundhog Day, each year on February 2nd. I think it’s a modern-day parable. If you’ve never seen it, I suggest you check it out. If you have, it’s a great movie to watch again, and again, and again…
Compliment this post with an article by Austin Kleon called “Want to Be an Artist? Watch Groundhog Day.”
Happy Groundhogs Day all you woodchuck chuckers!
Loved this, LuAnne, especially the phrase “flat-tire kind of day.” I plan to rewatch Groundhog Day today. Thanks for the reminder.

Thanks, Joan. I have had some of those days during the past year. Glad someone or something has come along and refilled my spirit. Thanks for stopping by.

Just when I was considering lockdown as a bleak Groundhog Day, you restore my mental lift, very timely, thank you, LuAnne 😊

Here we have lots of sunshine and shadows … a great day for some yardwork overdue. But I may have to carve out a couple of hours and watch the movie! Love your synopsis/suggestions. Agree this movie is one to repeat, repeat, repeat. Thanks, LuAnne, you’ve kicked the day off beautifully.

So glad to help you start your day beautifully, Jazz. We have sunshine and shadows here too, but I read that Punxsutawney Phil predicts six more weeks of winter weather. The event went virtual this year! I wonder if groundhog weather forecasts are local? If so, we are looking good for an early spring.

One of the joys of blogging, we all learn from sharing with each other. Your post prompted me to head off and do more reading myself. So, thank you, too.
