Canopy Coexistence

blue jay

Birds of color
fill my yard
cardinals
blue jays
goldfinches
coexisting in
canopy foliage

Jays aren’t brutal to
finches because their
feathers are not
blue
Cardinals don’t murder
jays because their
feathers are not
red

We could learn much
from the birds

    1. Kamal, thank you for your comment. I know it is not a perfect analogy but I was looking out my window and saw all these birds coexisting and it made me sad that we aren’t. Unfortunately, I am growing more aware that I contribute to the problem, too. I hope I can contribute to action for awareness and change through writing.
