Roots of truth
spread through the soil
of understanding
obscure like subterranean
aspen networks
during winter quiet
Opinions can evolve
untroubled by uncertainty,
nourished by the mystery
of partial knowledge
not fed by snap judgments
or need for absolute answers
but embracing the unanswerable
Love the metaphor, LuAnne. Beautifully written.

This stirs my optimism … so many trying to force others to convictions of their perspectives, fueling resistance, creating this antagonistic we-they division we’ve gotten too used to. As you point out, there are no absolute answers. We’re all in the process of growing perspectives (roots), whether we recognize that or not. Everything always changing, around us and within us. Great post. Thank you.

Thank you for your thoughtful comment, Jazz. The older I get the more I realize what I don’t know, the more comfortable I am with change (like you said) and that ambiguous place where I know that I there aren’t definitive answers. I recently went to a writers group where we were asked to bring in a song we liked. I brought in the Indigo Girls’ song “Closer to Fine”. You might enjoy it: https://www.songfacts.com/lyrics/indigo-girls/closer-to-fine

I like this poem Luanne — especially all of the “un”s…

Beautiful poetry so well composed, LuAnne. In the end nothing matters we are just embracing each other with love and kindness.
