The only callers to our door
On Halloween this year
Were dropping temps and rain and wind
That howled all through the night
Though the tempest knocked with fury
We offered her no treats
So a Halloween trick she played on us
Making skeletons of our maples
I love the personification of the storm, great last line!

Thanks, Heather. I got the idea from a poem a friend of mine wrote before Halloween. Hope you had a good holiday in your neck of the woods.

You are welcome. It was chilly , but surprisingly and thankfully, we didn’t have the winds!

I also love the personification, LuAnne. The images are so fitting. Lovely piece of poetry.

Your post resonates with us. We had the same visitors, although they attacked trees other than maples. 🙂

It was a pretty rough night here. The leaves on the oaks are still intact. But all of the maple leaves are carpeting the lawn. 🙂 Thanks for dropping by.

Wow! I heard stories on the weather channel and saw some images but your poor tree got stripped of its dignity! Dang!

It sure did. It is the closet tree outside my writing window, so her leaves will be missed greatly. But soon the limbs will be frosted with snow!

Winter wonderland! We go flurries a couple of years ago but it hasn’t really snowed in Florida since 1989. 😊
