Autumn’s Portent

autumn at Firefighters adjusted

Colors, spirited in autumn array
roar out to us acknowledgement
that winter soon will be whooshing in
with callow shadows and chill

But don’t despair, dear one,
autumn is a lucid whisper
that all of life is mortal
that all of nature turns

Beauty is enhanced when we
accept its ephemeral nature
let us treasure these transient tones
and prepare for inner quiet

Photo of Firefighter’s Park in Troy, MI is from my personal collection.

    1. Thank you, Heather. I am so enjoying this season and hoping I will be prepared for winter. I live in Michigan and we can have very cold, icy, long winters. But there is much to enjoy about that season as well. Thanks for stopping by and leaving a comment.

    1. Thank you for your kind words, Lisa. The photo was taken at the park where I often take my walks; it’s only about a quarter mile from my home. I love watching the seasonal changes there as well as the bird migration. I bought my house specifically to be near that park. Glad you stopped by.
