Fire Alarm

On back burner

So many things
are cooking at once –
the draft of a poem
a half-written letter
a sketch for a painting
a new app to learn

Right now, they’re half-baked
so I’ll
turn up the heat
let all but one simmer
on a back burner
and hope that my home
doesn’t burn down

Is anyone planning to participate in National/Global Poetry Writing Month starting in April? I’ve enjoyed doing it in the past and plan to participate again this year.

Here’s a link to this year’s event:

    1. Thanks for your comment. It was difficult finding a pic of pots almost boiling over. I had none in my collection because when it does happen (and yes it does happen) I am too busy putting out the crisis to grab my camera.

      1. You are welcome and i understand. No one wants to stand and take pics at the perfect angle when pots are boiling over 🙂

  1. Thanks for the link to NaPoWriMo! That sounds so cool but I don’t know if I have the guts to submit any poetry I might write for it. Of course that doesn’t mean I can’t do it anway just for myself. I hope you don’t burn anything down!

    1. I haven’t burnt the house down yet! Yes, NaPoWriMo is a challenge but no, you do not need to post every day. It often takes me several days to revise a poem to the point where I am willing to post. Some days I will write two poems, some days none. It is a challenge though to do something creative every day. I have a friend who takes the month of April to do a sketch every day instead of a poem. Mostly it should be an enjoyable challenge to get the springtime creative juices flowing. Thanks for stopping by, Michael.
