Mantra for Chakra Five

Fifth Chakra Mantra

May the words I use
represent truth from
the perspective of my unique path

May I listen to words of others
with respect and lovingkindness

May I speak what is necessary
and choose with intent
to remain silent when appropriate

May my words promote peace
and playfulness

As a writer, I view the fifth chakra with great respect. It is the sound chakra and is located in the region of the throat. It deals with the issue of communication.  One with a strong fifth chakra chooses words carefully to be honest, loving and respectful. When the fifth chakra is balanced, one is able to listen intently and avoid idle chatter. The fifth chakra’s underlying right is to speak and hear truth.

This week I am sharing the mantras I repeat during my meditation sessions to nurture a balance of my seven chakras. The word “chakra” is a Sanskrit word that translates as “wheel or disk”. Many see the seven chakras as “spheres of energy radiating from the central nerve ganglia of the spinal column” (from The Sevenfold Journey by Anodea Judith and Selene Vega). Also see my post for Mantras for Chakras One and Two and Mantras for Chakras Three and Four.

For a brief description of the seven chakras, see The 7 Chakras – A Beginners Guide to Your Energy Systems. I also recommend a book called The Sevenfold Journey that provides more indepth descriptions, physical exercises, and suggestions for balancing the chakras.
