this lovely snow
flakes all different sizes
approach their journeys in different ways
some fall gently
some careen in aggressive race
some dance down like whirlybirds
some even ascend at times
before falling
to blanket the earth
with diversity
I took this photo from my back door during a snowfall yesterday. I processed it into a black and white version using PhotoShop.
Love the harsh contrast of the white snow versus the black trees and branches! nice poem to go along with as well. somewhat jealous, I’ve never seen snow with my own eyes!

Thank you for your kind words, Jeremy. I live in Michigan, USA which is pretty far north. We have about a foot of snow right now and it is still snowing! I love snow days because it gives me an excuse to not drive anywhere so I can stay home, look out my window, and write! Thanks for dropping by.

Love this poem, LuAnne. Just one small thing – I think you meant to type “these” rather than “this” in your opening line.

I see what you mean, Joan. I did want to use “this” but to be clear I should have either used a comma after “snow” or changed it to “snowfall” to express what I meant to say. Thank you so much for this input. I really appreciate it. 🙂

What a lovely poem! It really showcases what it’s like to be human. So often, we compare ourselves to others, not feeling inadequate enough when in reality, we all have our own journey to travel. In the end, we join together and make something beautiful. 🙂 The poem matches the photo so well (good choice making it black and white. The contrast makes it that more beautiful).

Thank you so much for your kind words. That was exactly the point I was trying to make but I feared would be too ambiguous. Your comment makes my heart sing. 🙂 Glad you dropped by. I’ll have to check out your site as well!
