Biblical Playgerism

angles

When I was a child
I wrote like a child
In cursive

Now I’m a poet
I write like a poet
In ideas
In patterns
In rhythms
No fences
No syntax

I’ll never get an A in writing
When valued by perfect formation,
Adherence to rules

So maybe I’ll write in pink
Half cursive, half print
Bohemian in a suburban kind of way

This poem was inspired by 1 Corinthians 13:11 – When I was a child, I used to speak as a child, think as a child, reason as a child; when I became a man, I did away with childish things.

Thanks to my husband for his playful spelling of plagiarism that I used in the title.
