Fluid Movement

lake-titticca

Waves and ripples, both water
expressed in different ways.
Angel Falls and Lake Titicaca
are different expressions of water.
A ripple is no better or worse than a wave;
steep splashing falls are as wet as the calm on still lakes
like clouds and rain and snow and dew
they are all expressions of water.
We are made of water and that water in us
is primordial
living within the lineage of beings before us
that will flow through others to come.
Not just people, either
but cows and kitties,
dolphins and dogs
all life contains this ocean of water
in different expressions,
in perpetual change.

Painting and parenting, both creativity
expressed in different ways.
Composing a fugue and farming the land
both express creativity.
Painting is no better or worse than creativity in parenting;
composing is no more creative than cultivating the fields
like writing and dancing and balancing checkbooks
they are all creative expressions.
Creativity, like water, is primordial
an eternal lineage of expression
through tasks completed before us
that will flow through others to come.
Not just people, either
but chickadees singing, spiders webbing
and turtles diving the deeps
all life contains this creative ocean
in different expressions,
in perpetual change.
