Waiting for Yellow

A yellow winged butterfly
rested on a leaf,
closed her wings to become
a brown spot

I waited, eyes fixed
watching with intent for this insect to
once again morph into flightyellow butterfly

I had the time
Last night’s dishes were running
so I watched to the the song of
whish, clink, whish, clink

She took flight again
I wished her good hunting for nectar,
for safety in her flutters,
for peace in this one day of her life

And I hope to be grateful for
the nourishing nectar of my life,
my safety as I flutter,
and peace for this one day of my life
