Life as a Snowflake

paper snowflakes

It’s like folding a blank page in tiny triangles,
folds inside new folds creating depth.

Then cut away at times with random slashes
opened to reveal its sapient beauty
that  will melt away if held too tight too long.

  1. I used to love doing this as a kid. I made random snips and never quite knew until I opened it up exactly what I would get. Of course, sometimes all I ended up were eight separate pieces of paper. 🙂

    1. I liked doing them too, especially the surprise of what I would get. That is why paper snowflakes seemed to be such an apt metaphor for life. Things come snipping at you but that stuff cut away can be what makes us beautiful. Thanks for dropping by.

  2. Ah, I remember doing these for art class when I was in grade school… a lovely description of creating a snowflake with sage advice…. 🙂
