I leave the shades open tonight
to watch the live performance of
snow against a moonless sky.
I settle into my window chair
burritoed in a fuzzy blue blanket
sipping a hot cup of peace.
Special thanks to Rachel’s Thirtysomething Life post called Coloring. She writes about a “satisfying HOT cup of tea in peace” that I used as inspiration for this poem.
May I also suggest a companion piece you may enjoy, How to Sit in a Chair and Drink Tea.
Happy New Year!
Beautiful photo! I love the poem, especially the “burritoed into a warm blanket” line. Very nice!

A cup of tea for me represents peace and quiet after the kids have gone to bed. 🙂
Incidentally, I particularly like the first part of the poem with the performing snow lit up by the Moon. It sounds beautiful.

I do love those slow snows where I can follow one snowflake as it falls through my view. Glad you enjoyed the poem.
