Craving Movement

I cannot help but see the folly of
The illusion that we stay fixed
When I am alive in the midst of
A million tiny eternities
Some buried deep
As conscious rumblings in dark earth
Others pulled great distances like geese through magnetized air
Craving movement toward an evolving goal

This poem was inspired by poetry readings shared at a writer’s group. I wrote down lines from the poems that spoke to me and created this found poem from that inspiration. Lines, phrases, and inspiration from the following poems were used:

  1. Joy of Writing by Wislawa Szymborska
  2. Wild Iris by Louise Gluck
  3. Behaving by Tamara Madison
  4. China by Jane Hirshfield
